TRANCE.NU -- Sensation Black was a big happening last saturday. Now win the vinyl to Shock Your Senses at home!

The Sensation Black Anthem this year was made by The Rush and Thalamus, who teamed up to make a brilliant mixture of hardtrance/hardstyle. Banging beats, dark vocals and a strong hookline made the Amsterdam Arena glow in the darkness. Check the interview with The Rush and you can win one of the five vinyls!

Trance.nu: Who are The Rush?
Martijn Cornelissen & Marcel Kaper

Trance.nu: How did you come in contact with ID&T to do the Sensation Anthem?

As off the first edition of sensation, we did all music intro's and show elements for Sensation. So, the contact was already there. In 2001 we signed a record deal with ID&T so the contact became even closer than..

Trance.nu: You did some more Anthems, can you tell us which ones?

In 2002 & 2004 we did the Sensation White Anthem witch both entered the top 15 in the main charts. In 2002 we were totaly blown away, because we didn't expect it at all. We just signed to ID&T music, and all of a sudden we got a phonecall that they wanted to use one of our tracks to become the Sensation anthem 2002. We had actually just started to make music on a full time basis, and this was a dream start. In 2004 we were selected out of 12 tracks made by well known producers to do the anthem. So we were verry pleased again. Now in 2005 the Black Anthem started as a joke, but with a great end result :-)

Trance.nu: How would you describe this Black Anthem?

Hmmm, i think best of both worlds. The song had to breathe the Sensation Black feel, and should represent most of the styles played on the event. So it has become a bit off all styles mixed together.

Trance.nu: You also did tracks under the name Orange, will we see more tunes of that project?

We will not release any new orange records in the near future. We like to focus on 1 dance project and 1 crossover project only, and make it wellknown. For now, we will only use Orange-Studios.com as our company name for producing video and music for commercials and movies.

Trance.nu: You released the vinyl all by yourself without label intervention. Was that difficult?

Difficult no, but it took some time. I used to work at "Arcade" and designed hundreds of CD sleeves and radio and tv commercials, and I know my way around. I had some good contacts with a distributor, and all was arranged fairly rapidly. We did our own promotion, and all the well known DJ's are playing the record and reacted very good. There is a lot of interst from other countries, and things are flowing nicely.

Trance.nu: What can we expect more by The Rush the coming months?

First we are off on vacation, and afterwards our mobile studio will go to Spain for a month full of composing and kitesurfing!

Trance.nu: You also make brilliant visuals, please tell us what you exactly do?

As we started with the music intro's for sensation, we were looking for ways to enhance the experience. So in 2002 we started to edit video on top of the intro's to give more impact. Now in 2005 we went a step further, and made all intro's run on timecode, so that light, lasers and fireworks could start in synch with all our music and sfx.

Trance.nu: What are you most proud of that you reached in the industry so far?

We are proud that we can both live from our productions, and have a lot of fun and freedom.

Trance.nu: Do you have a message to our readers?

Well, keep supporting this great community.
